GDL is a free IDL (Interactive Data Language) compatible incremental compiler. IDL is a registered trademark of ITT Visual Information Solutions Inc. For more information please visit the GDL homepage.
This page describes installing GDL in Fedora Linux on a
VMWare Player. An easier setup uses Ubuntu Linux - please see
SSWGDL Installation on Ubuntu 10.04
using VMWARE Player.
VMware is software that creates a "virtualized machine" computing
environment between the computer platform and its operating system, so that
the user can operate software (in our case GDL) on an abstract machine.
Currently, a version of GDL does not exist that can be installed for
Windows. VMware will allow you to run GDL inside a Linux virtual machine
environment on Windows platforms. For more information please visit
the VMware homepage.
