VMware Player Installation

  1. Download and install the VMware Player for Windows from
    http://www.vmware.com/download/player/download.html.

  2. During installation disable the CD-ROM autorun feature.

  3. After installation finishes a new VMware virtual adapter can be found in the Network Connections panel.

  4. Obtain the Fedora Linux Core 6 virtual appliance which runs inside the VMware Player.
This can be obtained from here: http://www.thoughtpolice.co.uk/vmware/#fc6

It is recommended that you use bittorrent to download this. It can be downloaded via http but this can take 4-5 hours. If you need a bittorrent client, you might try Azureus. For more information visit the bittorrent entry on Wikipedia.

  5. Verify that you have at least 6 gigabytes of free disk space. Extract the contents of the file "fedora-fc6-i386.zip" into your vmware installation directory. A new 2.6 Gb directory named "fedora-fc6-i386" will be created.
