For 19% (120) of the flares, – 0.1 s < ? < 0 s Consistent with distributed E-field acceleration or “thin-target” (partially thick) model HESSI imaging can distinguish these models

Mean time delay for 622 CGRO flares (Aschwanden & Schwartz 1995) is? = t25 keV – t50 keV = 23 ms
