Research Interests

Dr. Dennis has been interested in high-energy phenomena in the universe, starting with cosmic ray observations, then X-ray observations, and since 1980, with X-ray observations of solar flares. He is particularly interested in the development of advanced instrumentation for X-ray imaging spectroscopy of solar flares with both high energy resolution and high angular resolution.

Solar Storms of April 14 - 24, 2002

Flare Catalog - GOES and RHESSI Events

List of all GOES events (≥C1) during the storm period with corresponding RHESSI events.
GOES start/peak/end times, class, and location and active region if known.
RHESSI count rates in the 3-6-12-25-50 keV bands, the shutter state, and the orbit status at the time of the flare (daytime or nighttime).
Clicking on Day/Night indicator brings up RHESSI light curves of the event period.

April 21, 2002, X1.5 Flare

Spectral analysis results from SPEX using a broken power law plus Gaussians to fit the spectra from 00:40 to 00:48 UT in one minute intervals.

Spectral analysis results from SPEX using a broken power law plus Gaussians to fit the spectra on the second orbit from 02:10 to 03:10 UT in one minute intervals.
