Why Do I Need to Update Windows?
Updating Windows  is an important and necessary step to allow the SolarSoftWare installation for PC's to occur properly.  To accomplish this, you should upgrade Internet Explorer to version 4.0 (or later).  You may opt to update Windows without upgrading Internet Explorer, however, doing so will require you to download and install several Microsoft software components individually.

Upgrading Internet Explorer will insure that your browser has the most recent software updates required to access the latest developments on the rapidly changing internet.  More importantly, Microsoft includes plug-ins, driver updates and internet security patches for the Windows operating system as a part of the Internet Explorer upgrade process.

Beginning with the Internet Explorer 4.0 upgrade, Microsoft began including the Task Scheduler update to the Windows operating system.  You should have this update installed before attempting to use SolarSoftWare for Windows.  Task scheduling will allow your PC to automatically update the SSW software and SSWDB databases on a daily basis.

Read more about updating Windows at the Microsoft web site.
