RHESSI GeD HV Record

The high voltages on the RHESSI germanium detectors are controlled by an 8-bit DAC, with each DAC step representing approximately 19.4V. The effect of high voltage on detector performance will be discussed in detail elsewhere, but an important number is the segmentation (depletion) voltage for each detector: above this value the detector can function properly with its front and rear segments both active. The DAC values for the segmentation voltages for the 9 detectors are the values in the second row of the table below (188, 162,......).

The table shows the status of all 9 HV DACs just after each change made. Each line represents actions taken during a single satellite contact with the Berkeley Ground Station. When the HV was moved in several steps during a single pass, that is indicated by a footnote showing all the HV values that were commanded during that pass. Detectors are referred to by grid number (G1-G9). Times are approximate times for the pass, so the moment the HV was commanded can be anywhere within about 10 minutes of the time shown. More precise times are available if needed -- see the contact information below.
