TOHBAN REPORT - JUNE 16 - 22, 2003 END OF THE CRAB OFF POINTING FOR THIS YEAR: Because of the X1.3 flare on Sunday June 15 ~23:55 generated by region NOAA 0386 rotating onto the disk, it was decided to point off of the crab and back to the sun. The return to the sun wasn't quite as fast as we had hoped in normal mode, so the ACS was set to precession mode for the last orbit of Monday, and the sun was reacquired accurately after that. SOLAR ACTIVITY: After the X1.3 flare, solar activity decreased steadily throughout the week, with the only exception being one M-class or greater flare (M6.8) at ~23:00, 17 Jun, 2003). However, this M - flare did produced a very nice 2.2 MeV spectral line. MEMORY MANAGEMENT AND OTHER ISSUES: On Monday, June 16, the SSR fill level was at about 60% at the first Berkeley pass, so it was decided to leave the rear segments off during eclipse, until memory usage was reduced. By Wednesday, June 18, the SSR fill level was down to 37% at first Berkeley pass, so it was decided to turn on the rear segments during eclipse. This went into effect at 00:00 UT June 19 with the new ATS load. When the SSR fill level returned to near zero on June 20, the decimation state was returned to normal/normal. This command went into effect: 21:09:35 June 20. Jonathan Loran
