Tohban report, 05-jul-2005 to 11-jul-2005 Amir Caspi (cepheid@ssl.berkeley.edu) 1) Solar Activity: With a few fairly active spots on the disk, baseline activity was in the mid-B range all week. NOAA active region 786 was the most prolific of the 9 regions on disk during the week, producing 2 M-class flares and a number of C-class flares. RHESSI caught the rise and peak of the M4.9 on 7-Jul-05, but only caught the late decay of the M2.8 on 9-Jul-05. How many GOES flares occurred? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 39 27 2 0 And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 16 18 2 0 And how many had EXCELLENT coverage? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 13 10 0 0 There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 81 / 68 over the time range 03-Jul-05 10-Jul-05 2) Memory Managment: Due to the higher solar activity, the SSR fill level rose from ~30% on 04/Jul/05 to a maximum of about 65% on 10/Jul/05. The current level is at 42% as of the last pass on 11-Jul-2005 at 16:13:04 UT. With a projected 50% chance of an M flare in the next 24 hours, the level may surpass 65% before the next BGS passes. 3) Data Gaps: The State-of-Health data page for day 186 (5/Jul/05) is missing. There were a number of VC3 data gaps during the week. Most were fairly short, with a large one listed for 10/Jul - this is presumably because the data has not yet been retrieved. There are also a few apparent bugs in the flare-finding code for this week, notably 2005-Jul-07 07:04:44... some flares are not listed, and some listed flares are bogus. 5) Special operations: None. Front segment events are still off during eclipse. Next week's tohban is: Albert Shih (ayshih@ssl.berkeley.edu)
