Tohban report, 2005/09/12 to 2005/09/19 Steven Christe (schriste@ssl.berkeley.edu) 1) Solar Activity: The beginning of the week was dominated by AR10808. It produced 4 (or 5) X-class flares (depending on how you count), 3 (or 2) X2s (05/09/13 19:28, 05/09/13 20:06, 05/09/13 23:22) and 2 X1s (05/09/15 08:38, 05/09/17 06:05). We had coverage for the peak of the 09/13 20:06 flare, full/beautiful coverage of the 09/13 23:22 flare, a tiny view of the peak of the 09/15 flare though we got a chunk of the decay, and again great coverage for the 09/17 X flare. We also had a bunch of M class flares. So far the total productivity for this active region has been XXXXXXXXXX MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM (11X 23M). Despite the X-class flares the active region 10808 was slowly decaying throughout as could be seen by a steadily decreasing background level. It now stands at B2 and the region is about to pass around the limb so not much further activity is expected. How many GOES flares occurred? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 16 55 15 3 And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 9 35 11 3 And how many had EXCELLENT coverage? Flares above B, C, M, X class were 7 19 3 1 There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 156 / 89 over the time range 11-Sep-05 18-Sep-05 2) Memory Management: We began the week with memory levels of about 50% and due to the decrease in activity this level has steadily decreased to a current level of about 10%. 3) Decimation/Fronts at night: We have remained on active/vigorous and have not collecting front eclipse events. Decimation has been changed today to normal/active. 4) Data Gaps: None on 13,14,17.
