Solar Activity

The sun was moderately active this week. It hovered around a GOES B class background and had only some B and C class flares. There are 5 named active regions on disk

How many GOES flares occurred?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 26 19 0 0

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 14 16 0 0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 10 6 0 0

There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 158 / 45 over the time range 05-Sep-12 12-Sep-12

Memory Management

SSR had been reaching 40% early in the week, it emptied today.

Spacecraft Status

Cold tip 1 and 2 are currently sitting at 91.6 and 89.8 K respectively. The cold plates are at 108.1 and 106.7 K respectively. Cryopower 71 W.

Spin 14.7

Data Gaps

The data from the data server failure last week has been recovered and filled in on Browser.

Detector issues

D8 shows a long decay coming out of the SAA. This is affecting the livetime, the livetime is reduced to .8 and decays back to nominal at ~ 1/3 to 1/2 of the following orbit.

There was discussion as to if lowering the voltage, or raising the threshold would be better to alleviate this problem. Raising the threshold would limit analysis of the iron line. It was decided to reduced D8 by 6 steps.

Other notes

David Smith will report on the best detectors (at this time) for spectroscopy.
