Solar Activity

On average, the sun has been active this week, producing 3 M-class flares and 57 C-class flares. The most active region earlier in the week was NOAA 11861. Then, after a few days of low solar activity, NOAA 11875 has become active producing 2 M-class flares. This active region is currently located near disk-center and we can expect more activity here. STEREO B shows that there may be one AR rotating onto disk in about a week.

How many GOES flares occurred?

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

Memory Management

Due to increased solar activity, the SSR did not fully empty at the end of pass sets. The maximum of this week was 33% and it is currently at ~9%.

The decimation was changed to normal_vigorous at 2013/294 (October 21) 17:53 UTC. This is when the solar active was low.

For a better memory management, the group decided to turn off event data for fronts during spacecraft night (except +/- 4 min).

Spacecraft Status

The cold plate 2 temperature decreased from 116.8K to 116.0K, as expected due to the growing length of eclipse The other systems are also nominal.

Data Gaps

There was one data gap probably due to a processing error.
