9. Miscellaneous Tips for Running Spex. Some little bits people don't know about. There are command modifiers. Here are the ones Richard Schwartz could find: SPEX> photon_spectrum (,no) Plots spectrum interval as photon flux. Modifier NO inhibits parameter change applet. SPEX> background_interval This is used to select the background interval from the time_history window. The modifiers are: SPEX> background_interval, clear Background is set to 0 and need.back and need.accum are set to 1, so background and interval selection must be repeated. SPEX> background_interval, old Any pre-existing background is used. need.back is set to 0, need.accum is set to 1, and interval selection must be repeated. SPEX> background_interval, null Use this when the data read have already been background subtracted background is set to 0. need.back is set to 0, need.accum is set to 1, interval selection must be repeated. SPEX> count_spectrum, noback Shows the count flux spectrum with the background spectrum suppressed. SPEX> fitting Without modifiers a fit is performed and a photon/count flux plot plus residuals is generated. SPEX> fitting, p Just plots the existing fit. SPEX> fitting, f Just does the fit without a plot.
