************************************************************************* New features in the BATSE software: !!! Quicklook plots on X Windows, Tektronix, PostScript or Regis !!! !!! New full day quicklook plot format !!! !!! New option to display time intervals when BATSE was observing the Sun !!! !!! BATSE burst trigger times now available !!! BATSE quicklook plots can now be generated on a variety of graphics devices - X windows, Tektronix, and Regis for screen output, and Tektronix and PostScript for printer output. Until now, the quicklook data was stored in the form of Tektronix plot files that could be displayed only on Tektronix-capable devices. Now, the quicklook data themselves are saved, allowing users to generate plots on the device most convenient to them. In addition to the orbital quicklook plots, there is a new 24-hour format that gives a quick picture of a full day of solar activity. Another new feature is that catalogued flares are now flagged on both the orbital and 24-hour plots by marking the flare peak time with a '+'. Select Option 2 from the main menu to display quicklook plots. Select Option 5 from the main menu to display time intervals when BATSE was observing the Sun. If a BATSE burst trigger occurred during a flare, the burst trigger time is now displayed in the flare catalog list, and the time of the trigger can be marked on the flare and quicklook plots.
